So Young Yang

CAT–LP, MA

So Young Yang (she/her) enters the field as a second-career clinician, drawing on her extensive background working internationally as a filmmaker. Holding a Creative Arts Therapy Limited Permit from New York State, she brings a distinctive blend of talk therapy and creative arts therapy to her clinical work. Her foundational training includes providing individual therapy at the NYU Center for Counseling and Community Wellbeing, alongside valuable experience supporting psychiatric patients with acute needs at Bellevue hospital.

Her clinical approach is deeply relational, experiential, trauma-informed, and transformative. Grounded in a thorough understanding of how past experiences shape the present, So Young helps clients uncover fresh perspectives on current challenges. She cultivates a client-centered space where each session is uniquely tailored, integrating somatic practices and creative arts within the foundation of traditional psychotherapy.

So Young is trained in EMDR (EMDRIA approved) and is a certified yoga practitioner (RYS-500). She works with individuals of all ages, offering sessions in both English and Korean.
